101 Days of Christmas: Homemade Dog Biscuits

Homemade Dog Biscuits

Almost two months ago, my husband and I fell in love with an almost all-black Siberian Husky puppy we found while looking for Husky breeders in our area.

Although we hadn’t planned to actually get a puppy that weekend, we ended up driving two hours to meet her, reminding our kids the whole time that we might not actually bring her home with us but knowing that the chances were pretty good that we would!

We christened that sweet puppy Bella, and she’s been a great addition to our family. While there are certainly days that I wonder what in the world we were thinking in adding a puppy to our already busy home, she really is an amazing dog. She only has accidents when we ignore the signs that she wants to go out (and she’s started whining or pulling her leash off the shelf to let us know when that is), she sleeps through the night in a crate by our bed, and she’s quickly learning that nipping is not an acceptable form of play.

I remember how much fun I had getting Christmas gifts for my dog growing up, and my girls are already enthusiastically brainstorming ideas for Bella as well, so of course we had to come up with a doggy gift for this series as well.

These dog biscuits are inexpensive and easy to make, but your furry friend won’t mind because they’re tasty too!

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon powdered milk
  • 1 cup white whole wheat flour
  • 3-4 tablespoons water

Directions:

Combine peanut butter, egg, salt, powdered milk and flour. Add water one tablespoon at a time until you have a doughy texture. It should be easy to form but not sticky.

Roll out dough to 1/4″ thickness and cut out with a cookie cutter. Re-roll scraps and repeat.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Note: I used a Pampered Chef stone, so the biscuits cooked evenly on both sides. If you’re using a traditional cookie sheet, you may want to flip them over halfway through.

I’d say she liked them!
