How to Wear Booties

Booties. One of the hottest trends and probably one of the hardest ones to wear. I’ve gotten several requests for a post about how to wear booties, so here we are!

The best thing about booties is that they can be worn with both pants and skirts.  There are many outfit  combinations to try with a stylish pair of booties.

I have Dansko’s Buffy Bootie, and I love these!!! They come in gray kid suede and black leather and they are cute with skinny jeans or skirts. Plus, they are Dansko, so they are supper comfortable and supportive to wear all day.

I prefer wearing booties with skinny jeans. The key is to avoid letting the hem of the pants crunch up against the booties. Either tuck them in, or cuff them so they barely touch the top of the bootie. Here I am on my way to a friend’s birthday party. I cuffed my red jeans so they are the right length against the booties.

Here is another example from the Banana Republic website. The model wears booties with a slim ankle pant.

Booties are also a great way to update a classic pencil skirt.

Although personally I prefer to see this look with tights.

And it doesn’t have to be a pencil skirt. This is an example of a model wearing them with a pleated skirt.

The key with this trend, as with any trend, is to try it out. If you’re not sure you want to commit, wear an outfit that you think you would wear with the booties to the mall and try them on. Take an honest friend with you if you don’t trust your instincts. You’ll never know if you’ll like it till you try it.

What do you say? Booties… yay or nay?
