101 Days of Christmas: Peppermint Hot Chocolate & Whipped Cream

peppermint hot chocolate

Like a lot of families, hot chocolate is one of our very favorite traditions!

We drink it after we decorate our tree (which we actually did last weekend!). We drink it on snow days. We drink it on Christmas Eve while reading ‘Twas the night before Christmas.

What’s better than hot chocolate?

Peppermint hot chocolate!

What’s better than peppermint hot chocolate?

Peppermint hot chocolate with peppermint whipped cream!

(Don’t worry, we go light on the peppermint in both parts of this yummy drink so it’s not too overpowering!)

Ingredients:

  • Alton Brown’s hot chocolate mix
  • International Delight Peppermint Mocha creamer
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/8-1/4 peppermint extract
  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar
  • crushed candy canes

Directions:

Prepare the hot chocolate according to the directions.

Note: My recommendation would be to use less hot chocolate mix (rather than equal parts) because it’s pretty rich before you add the creamer and whipped cream!

Add 2-3 teaspoons International Delight Peppermint Mocha creamer.

In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream, peppermint extract and sugar until peaks form.

Spoon or pipe the whipped cream onto the hot chocolate. Sprinkle with crushed peppermints.

Enjoy!
