2011 Holiday Gift Guide: Kitchen Gifts

For a girl who doesn’t like to cook, I enjoy kitchen gadgets a little too much! At the beginning of our minimalism/decluttering journey, it was actually the amount of stuff in my kitchen that caught my attention, and I donated boxes and boxes and boxes of gadgets and tools and appliances.

These days, I’m much more picky about what I bring into my kitchen. KitchenAid mixer, check. Nice measuring cups/spoons, yes please. And when all else fails, consumable gifts are always a safe bet!

When it comes to kitchen gifts, the KitchenAid Artisan Series 5-Quart Mixer is a very popular one. No one does affordable stand mixers like KitchenAid, and whether you start with a basic 4-quart model or jump up to the professional series, this is a great gift that is sure to be loved and appreciated!

A few months ago, I mentioned that I had eliminated most plastic from my kitchen and would be working on measuring cups and spoons next. A reader sent me information about the King Arthur Stainless Steel Measuring Cup & Spoon Set, raving about the quality of them, and I immediately added them to my Christmas wishlist!

I love Strawesome Reusable Glass Straws, not only because of their permanence and eco-friendly nature but also for their design and the practicality of larger “smoothie straws” for thicker drinks. They are also beautifully designed, which just adds to their charm and appeal. Because they’re made from strong, high-quality glass, our whole family uses them, and we’ve never had a broken straw!

A couple months ago, my husband surprised me with a Mr. Coffee 4-Cup Steam Espresso Machine (with the slogan, “Espresso Your Way“), and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to use. My mom surprised me days later with my very own pumpkin spice syrup, and I’ve enjoyed a pumpkin spice latte at home almost every day since!

Hickory Farms has been committed to providing the highest quality, best-tasting food gifts for more than 60 years. Hickory Farms Gift Baskets feature a variety of cheeses, mustards, crackers and their signature beef summer sausage! Plus, Hickory Farms has announced their new 3-day shipping for $3 promotion on all gifts this holiday season to ensure freshness and value.

Along with my stainless steel measuring cups and spoons, I’m also hoping to replace my plastic liquid measuring cups with a big Pyrex Measuring Cup! We love Pyrex, and I’m looking forward to adding this to my collection!

Surprisingly, of all the bread maker reviews on Amazon, the Sunbeam Programmable Breadmaker — which is less expensive than some of the other brands — seems to have some of the best. In fact, many of the reviewers of other bread machines talk about their decision to return one machine for a Sunbeam instead. This is a great practical — and fun gift — for someone who wants to try their hand at homemade bread!

I’ve had the privilege of reviewing a number of Sinbad Sweets’ baklava and tart assortments. I often take a box with me to a party or get-together to share, and they always go quickly with rave reviews!

Good nesting bowls are a great addition to any kitchen, and this 8 Piece Stainless Steel Nesting Bowl Set has non-skid bottoms and matching lids so that you can mix and store without dirtying additional dishes!
