8 Productive Ways to Kill Boredom

Are you bored with mundane life activities? Do you want to use the ‘boredom’ afflicted time productively? If yes, keep on reading because this article is written especially for you.

You may long for something to do but can’t find anything exciting. We all know this frustrating condition. Boredom is like being trapped between wanting to use the time productively but not finding something interesting to do.

Your boredom is not because there’s nothing you would like to do. It’s just that anything that you think of seems repetitive and ordinary. So here are some suggestions that can help you use your time wisely.

1. Create Fun Things

If you are a homebody and don’t like to go out much, this might work for you. The fun fact is: You don’t have to be an artist to create something. You just have to be imaginative.

In case you don’t have the tools needed to do a DIY or make a sketch, you can explore your creative side by customizing a golf ball marker or patches on online platforms like vivipins and probably sell them to anyone interested.

What is better than spending time with yourself than waiting for a miracle to get out of boredom? Try this out and write to us how it worked for you.

2. Organize Your Closet

Let’s be honest. All of us have been avoiding this day for a long time. Instead of just roaming around aimlessly and teasing your siblings when you are bored, why not do something that will add to your comfort?

You may feel like you don’t have the energy to deal with the mess, but your messy closet, shoe, or makeup organizer needs your attention more than Facebook needs your scrolls.

And, if you cannot organize stuff in one go, do it in phases. This way, you will no longer delay the process since it will become easier to wrap it up.

 3. READ Through Boredom

Use your time to learn something new. I understand that this tip may bore some people, but they can go for their taste in that case. To put it simply, it is useful if you can read your course books or the history of your ancestors in your spare time, but if that doesn’t interest you, go for a romantic novel or a comic book. There are a variety of comic books from an online comic books store that will surely tickle your interest.

Reading of any kind helps you learn. Whatever you engage yourself in will impact you, so why not just learn new funny words to make people enjoy your company or read romance novels to learn new ways to express yourself romantically?

4. Learn A Language

If you ask me, I have tried this tip, and it helped me learn Arabic! I can’t believe how easy and inexpensive learning new things have become because of the internet but leverage it.

If I say that learning a new language can enhance your chances to earn around 15% more than monolinguals in your league, would you believe me? If not, here is the research to verify it.

You can learn any language that you find fancy on YouTube for free. A reminder: If you take advantage of your spare time today, it will give you sweeter fruits tomorrow.

5. Polish Your Skill

I know it’s not always easy to change your habits, but if you really want to change, push yourself in the right direction. And by this, I mean that instead of using tik tok or Netflix, improve yourself.

When you are free, train yourself and polish the skill you have. Nobody is perfect, but we can reach the best version of ourselves with constant efforts.

Brush up your abilities because later on, they can help you grow financially and mentally. It’s better to work on your future self today so you won’t have to regret the time you are wasting tomorrow.

6. Learn a New Skill

If you think you don’t have a skill, learn one. I tried to learn graphic designing because I like illustrations, but sadly I couldn’t go too far with it. However, I know the basics.

The point here is engaging yourself in something that you really like adds to your learning faculty, and you adopt its concepts quickly.

Ask yourself what you’d like to do for years without getting bored? If you get the answer, then go ‘learn’ it. If you are practical, you can search for prevailing career options or skills and start your journey.

7. Watch Interviews

To use your’ bored, not tired’ time productively, and to lessen your social media engagement, you can watch interviews of your favorite personalities. I understand that it may not be very productive for some of you, so you can watch podcasts on the topics you like.

However, watching interviews of people is like having a sneak peek into their lives. They must have been through challenging situations to reach where they are. It will give you motivation, and you can also learn a new perspective from their views.

I have watched documentaries about great philosophers like Nietzsche, Marx, and Freud in my boredom, and it has helped me understand their movements when I saw the world of the time through their lenses. Now I can contribute to the intellectual conversations. Have you got my point, or should I elaborate further?

8. Talk to Your Loved Ones

Since we are so caught up in our lives growing up, we forget that our parents and loved ones are also losing the days of their lives.

Have a heart to heart conversation with them. Tell them how much importance they hold for you. You never know what tomorrow may bring. Live, love, and let live.

A wise man once said, “Value time if you want to live fully.” Following it, we hope these tips help you use time in your favor to become a better version of yourself. Write your views in the comments and tell us how you like to spend your time when you feel bored.
