Beating financial stress and gaining a life well spent

Over 70% of Americans are financially stressed.

12% of Americans skip going to the doctor because of financial concerns.

80% of people admitted that their personal finances keep them awake at night.

21% of couples who rate their financial stress as at least “somewhat high” are arguing more.

32% of adults say their finances keep them from living a healthy lifestyle.

Money equals stress for so many families, with the uncertainty of the economy, the expense of raising kids, and the rising cost of living.

That stress is made worse by our reluctance to talk about money, to share our struggles, stresses, and fears, and to realize we’re not alone.

SunTrust is launching a national movement to inspire families like ours to take control of our finances and gain financial confidence and start thinking about our money differently.

On Super Bowl Sunday, SunTrust will be unveling the onUp Movement, where you can:

  • set financial goals
  • take a “Mental Wealth Quiz” to get specific actions, tools and tips tailored to your situation
  • make your own version of their Super Bowl spot

Financial stress can hurt our relationships and cause us to miss out on the important moments if we’re not careful, but setting small goals and taking one step at a time can help you move #onUp!

For our family, the two most important changes we’ve made are creating a zero-based budget each month and using cash for our weekly spending. We’re able to budget “fun” spending in from the beginning, which helps us stick to our budget while still enjoying the occasional splurge, and using cash gives us a visual reminder of how much money we have to spend so that we can make better decisions throughout the week.

At SunTrust Bank, their purpose is lighting the way to financial well-being. When you feel confident about your money, you can save for your goals and spend knowingly on what matters most to you.

The onUp movement was created to guide millions of people one step at a time towards a more financially confident life without ever losing sight of the moments that matter along the way.

Join the growing number of people transforming their stress into positive motivation to move onUp: join the movement.
