101 Days of Christmas: DIY Paper Straw Stars

The following post is from Myra of My Blessed Life:

One of my favorite hobbies is creating seasonal home decorations from random household items.

These adorable striped paper straw stars are no different. They are quick and easy to make, inexpensive, and perfect for repurposed Christmas decor.

Supplies:

  • red and white paper straws {4 straws per star}
  • bottle caps {2 per star}
  • buttons
  • hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • bakers’ twine or jute

Directions:

Fold each straw in half and flatten in the center.

Unfold each straw and place them on top of each other in a snowflake design.

Hot glue the straws together in the center. Let the glue cool.

Glue a bottle cap on each side of the star. Then glue one or two buttons inside each bottle cap.

Cut twine whatever length you desire. Thread the twine down inside one of the straws and carefully squirt glue into the straw. Allow the glue to cool to be secure.

Hang the striped paper straws in a window, doorway, or anywhere to add a bit of Christmas cheer!
