Do What You CAN to Achieve More

Impossible Climb

Do you feel stuck?

It seems we often get so focused on what we CAN’T do that we forget there are things we CAN do to achieve more.

There are obstacles in our way for everything But in the history of the world, nothing would have ever been accomplished if there weren’t brave souls out there willing to break through the barriers.  Businesses, vaccines, new worlds, freedom and inventions would have gone undiscovered if it wasn’t for those willing to do what they could to improve their lives and the lives of others.

Are you locked up on what you CAN’T do?  If so, then maybe you need to change your thinking.

Start looking for what you CAN do and the possibilities will open up.  Things will start to flow.  You will make progress like never before.

The Possible Versus the Impossible

What seems impossible to you?

Is there a goal that you want to accomplish that just seems unattainable?  I’m not going to tell you that you can do anything.  You might not be able to become President of the United States.  You might not be able to play professional football.  You might not be able to do all kinds of things.  But — and this is a big but — there are loads and loads and loads of things that you CAN do.

I’m sure that lots of people told Helen Keller what she couldn’t do.  Did she listen?

I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.

~ Helen Keller

Obviously, she did not.  As a result, she has inspired people for decades.

Will you continue to listen to those around you that tell you your goal is impossible?  Will you continue to refuse to do anything because you can’t do everything?

What is possible for you to do?  What small, incremental step can you take right now, today, to improve your life or the life of someone near you?  The difference you make will count.  If I can improve the life of one person in some small way with what I write, then it is worth it.  Whatever you do, will also be worth it.

Stop Hiding From Life to Avoid Failure

Step out there on the stage and do what you CAN do.  Determine what is possible and forget about what is impossible.

Failure happens.  When it does, it isn’t the end of the world.  Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and go on.  There is no other way to find success.  It won’t come break down your door.

We tend to get overwhelmed, scared and timid.  We want to stay where it is safe.  We don’t want to venture out into the unknown, uncharted and possibly dangerous waters where new discoveries are made.  We would rather just hunker down and hide.  It is less risky.  It is comfortable.

The thing is, life doesn’t stand still.  Time keeps passing.  The years keep whizzing by.  Eventually, it will all come to an end for you.

Will your life have counted for something?

Not if you keep hiding.  Not if you stay stuck.  Not if you stay focused on what you CAN’T do.

Get Up and Get Busy With Living

What CAN you do?

This is the question you need to ask yourself.  For example, if you want to start your own business, but you don’t know how to pull it off financially, then begin by doing what you CAN.  Start in a very small way by doing it on the side.  This is sometimes called a side hustle and it is a great way to get started.  It is all about doing what you CAN.  It is about focusing on the possible.

If you want to travel to foreign countries, but you can’t afford it, then start saving what you CAN.  Put back a few dollars a week by eating peanut butter and jelly for lunch.  Start researching ways to travel on the cheap.  Talk to people that travel about how they do it.  Connect with people online that have knowledge about frugal ways to travel.

Do what you CAN and you’ll be amazed at the doors that will start to open up for you.

What is it that you want to do?  Get a notebook and start brainstorming what you CAN do.  Make a list of at least ten things you CAN do toward your goal.  This exercise will energize you and get your creativity flowing.  Leverage the energy to get off high-center.

Forget about what you CAN’T do.  That stuff is irrelevant.  It doesn’t matter.  It will only paralyze you.  You’ve had enough of that.

Start focusing on what you CAN do and start living.  No matter what your situation is, you have things you CAN do.  It might not be as much as you want, but it is better than just staying stuck.

I’m a firm believer because I’ve seen if for myself how doing something usually winds up getting me a lot further down the road than I thought it would.  It certainly gets me further than doing nothing.

What CAN you do?  Did you find this helpful?  If so, then leave me a comment and let me know.  I’d love to hear from you.
