I’ve always enjoyed a cold frappuccino or a seasonal pumpkin spice latte, but it’s only been in the last two years, since our youngest daughter was born, that I’ve really fallen in love with coffee as a whole. What started out as my lifeline through more than 18 months of sleep issues has become one of my life’s simplest pleasures.

Although I recently gave up caffeine, after becoming way too reliant on it to get through my day, I have no intention of giving up coffee altogether.

Instead, I’m enjoying a decaf coffee or latte — hot or cold — every couple of days, which makes it that much sweeter!

One of the greatest benefits of eliminating caffeine has been that I’m once again waking up to enjoy the early morning stillness…without an alarm. I’ve always been an early bird, but I’d unfortunately lost touch with that part of myself while stuck in the caffeine cycle, so I’m happy to be feeling like my old self once again.

And a decaf iced latte is the perfect compliment to my morning routine!

Overnight Iced Latte

To make, add 1/4 cup coarsely ground coffee to a french press or glass jar. Cover with 1 cup cold water and set aside.

In the morning, add ice cubes to a glass and strain the coffee (using the press, a fine mesh strainer or a piece of cheesecloth) over the ice cubes. Add 3/4-1 cup milk and a splash of flavored creamer (optional) for the perfect iced latte!
