101 Days of Christmas: Host a Cookie Swap

This coming weekend, my friend Annette and I are partnering with Glad to host a Christmas Cookie Swap to benefit Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, which raises money to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancer.

I’ll share more about our cookie swap next week, but in the meantime, I wanted to share this cute set of cookie swap printables plus a list of cookie recipes for those of you who are thinking about hosting your own swap this year:

The printables set includes invitations, cookie labels (just fold the tents in half and write the cookie type on one side) and recipe cards so your guests can share their recipes.

How to Host a Cookie Swap

To host a cookie swap, simply invite guests to bring their favorite homemade cookie to share. Some swaps specify that all guests should bring a dozen cookies per guest, but I honestly think this is too much to expect from busy moms during the hectic holiday season. Annette, who hosts an annual cookie swap, never specifies how many cookies guests should bring and always ends up with plenty for everyone to share. I personally prefer that approach because it takes the pressure off and opens the swap to more people!

At the cookie swap, you’ll place the plates of cookies around the table. Have your guests bring their own containers or provide take-home containers for them to use. Each person will walk around the table and fill their container with a selection of cookies to take home.

Be sure to leave time to swap recipe cards and vote on your favorite cookie variety as well!
