I have a love/hate relationship with fashion. On one hand, I like to think of myself as fairly low-maintenance: I wear makeup occasionally, but I’m not afraid to show up for a meeting or go out without makeup on; I don’t keep up with the latest trends; and most of my favorite clothes are hand-me-downs from my mom and sister.
On the other hand, I like pretty things, and I know that wearing old, ill-fitting clothes does affect my confidence, so I’m trying to do better about choosing clothes that fit well, look good on my post-six-babies body, and don’t look like they came out of the garbage heap.
I’ve been on a mission for the past year or so to update my wardrobe, and this year for my birthday, my husband bought me new shoes. It’s kind of a funny gift, but out of the 10 pairs of shoes or so that I have (for all four seasons!), several were starting to fall apart. I needed some good sandals and tennis shoes…plus he added a pair of fun rain boots just because they make me happy. (And then we went out of town for the month of May while our area was absolutely hammered with rain. Irony.)
When Famous Footwear asked if I’d like to participate in a campaign for busy moms who are looking to put their best foot forward this summer, I jumped at the chance because the one pair of shoes I hadn’t yet found was a pair of white sandals that would go with pretty much everything this summer.
I had so much fun scrolling through all of their shoes, but in the end I went with the first pair of shoes that had caught my eye. The Women’s Cate Sandal is the perfect addition to my tiny shoe collection. They are comfortable for days on the go, look great, and are so very affordable.
They’ve become my go-to shoe this summer, whether I’m heading to a playdate with the kids, running errands, or sitting at the dentist office.
They’re super comfortable, which is my number one criteria for shoes since I spend so much time toting six kids from place to place and trying to get my “ducklings” to line up and walk in a somewhat orderly fashion through the grocery store.
They’re not the fanciest sandals because that’s just not my style, but they’re much more stylish than a pair of plain flip-flops. They’re simple but pretty, and I’d be lying if I said that didn’t make me feel good when I’m wearing them.
And their simple style means I can wear them to the park with kids OR out on a date with my husband, which is perfect for my inner minimalist.
Caring about shoes is a first-world privilege, I know, but finding affordable shoes that are not only comfortable but also make me feel cute is a definite win in my book!
