For many years, it seemed like solids ruled the day. I had hardly any prints in my wardrobe at all. But lately that is changing. Prints are a big trend right now, and I’m so glad to see it! Stripes, florals, geometric patterns — it’s all fair game!
If you haven’t worn a print in a while, you might be wondering where to start. The easiest thing to do is to incorporate one printed piece into an outfit. I’m a big fan of stripes right now.
Or go for a nice big bold all-over print like this tunic dress from JCrew.
If you want to turn it up a notch, mix your prints! The key is to mix a smaller print with a larger one so that they don’t compete. And sticking with classic colors, like red and navy, helps keep the outfit grounded, according to JCrew.com. They paired this bold striped jacket with a smaller print in these navy-and-white shorts. The blue top underneath gives the eye a place to rest. They even added a pair of printed ballet flats to the mix!
Do you wear prints? Do you mix them? What is your best tip for wearing prints?
