How to Wear Prints

The following post is from Jo-Lynne of Musings of a Housewife:

For many years, it seemed like solids ruled the day. I had hardly any prints in my wardrobe at all. But lately that is changing. Prints are a big trend right now, and I’m so glad to see it! Stripes, florals, geometric patterns — it’s all fair game!

If you haven’t worn a print in a while, you might be wondering where to start. The easiest thing to do is to incorporate one printed piece into an outfit. I’m a big fan of stripes right now.

Or go for a nice big bold all-over print like this tunic dress from JCrew.

If you want to turn it up a notch, mix your prints! The key is to mix a smaller print with a larger one so that they don’t compete. And sticking with classic colors, like red and navy, helps keep the outfit grounded, according to They paired this bold striped jacket with a smaller print in these navy-and-white shorts. The blue top underneath gives the eye a place to rest. They even added a pair of printed ballet flats to the mix!

Do you wear prints? Do you mix them? What is your best tip for wearing prints?
