A few weeks ago I showed you how to close open programs in iOS4 on the iPad and iPhone (and I was so glad I wasn’t the only one who didn’t know how to do that for a long time!). But that’s not the only thing you can do by double clicking the home button.

Double click on your home button, slide the icons to the right, and — voila! — you’ll find a hidden menu!

With this menu, you can:

  • Lock the screen orientation
  • Adjust the screen brightness
  • Adjust the volume
  • Control your music playback

I change my screen brightness a lot since I use my iPad at night when it’s dark and during the day, and for the longest time I was actually going into my settings to adjust it. This is so much faster! Being able to lock the screen orientation when I read is really helpful as well.
