Make It a Priority {31 Days to Your Goal}

31 Days to Your Goal |

If you’re just joining us, be sure to start at the beginning of the 31 Days to Your Goal series!

The thing about making goals is that we’ll never get any closer to the finish line if we don’t make each of them a priority. That’s why the goals we make because we think we should make them are so hard to keep and why most resolutions fail.

However, when we make a goal that we’re excited about or convinced is the best for us — whether it’s something fun like weekly date nights, something hard like completing the Insanity workout program or something big like launching a new business — it’s much easier to make the time for it because it truly is a priority for us.

At the end of the day, the way we spend our time is a reflection of our true priorities, not the ones we list on paper but the ones we hold in our hearts.

We have to choose to make pursuing our goals a priority, and that means carving out time in our schedule to make it happen.

If you’re having trouble finding the time in your schedule, here are a few ideas:

  • Get up 15 or 30 minutes earlier.
  • Give up evening TV time.
  • Swap childcare with a friend or neighbor to give each of you a child-free morning or afternoon.
  • Institute an afternoon quiet time for kids who no longer nap.
  • Look for ways to streamline or delegate chores.
  • Practice saying no.
  • Do it first thing, before the day gets in the way.
  • Eliminate time wasters.

If you truly want to achieve your goal, you must make it a priority. There’s no other way to make it happen!

Does your schedule reflect your priorities? Have you made your goal a priority this month?
