Question of the Day: Do You Have a Reading Goal for 2012?

Earlier today I shared the books I read in 2011 and those that are on my list for 2012. As you can see from the list, I read a lot. I read for relaxation in the evenings, while I eat my lunch and drink my midday coffee, while I ride the recumbent bike (which makes it sound like I exercise more than I do!) and pretty much whenever I can sneak in a few minutes.

I love to read, and I’m thankful that I can make time for it. I’ve often thought about picking up another hobby — such as sewing — but I’m not sure I want to sacrifice reading time for it, so that may have to wait until the kids are much older!

There were several years after we started having kids that I barely read any books at all. Then I got a Kindle and rekindled (couldn’t resist…) my passion for reading. That first year, I set a goal of reading a book a week. I didn’t quite hit the mark, but it was great motivation to search out good books!

These days, I have no lack of books to choose from on my Kindle, and I might need to take a different approach and limit how many books I read instead, but if you’ve found that you don’t read as much as you used to or want to, why not set a concrete goal for 2012?

Ideally, how many books would you like to read in 2012?

How much time do you want to read per week in the coming year?

What’s on your reading list?

Do you prefer fiction or non-fiction?

Asking for more book recommendations could get me in trouble, but I’m looking forward to hearing about your goals and reading lists!
