Question of the Day: Do You Think Blogging is Dead or Dying?
source: agahran

Every few months, a media outlet or internet guru will proclaim that blogs are a dying medium being usurped by Facebook or Twitter or some other new platform. While I think blogs and the blogosphere are definitely changing, I personally think they’re far from dead.  At least I hope so, both as a blogger and a blog reader.

So today I want to know…

Do you think blogs are dying?

Do you think this question is different for personal “keep the family updated” blogs versus professional blogs?

Do you think micro-blogging sites like Twitter and Facebook will replace blogs in the future?

If you’re a professional blogger, do you worry that blogging is dying, or do you think it’s all hype? Have you strategized for how you will adjust if blogs are a dying platform?

Looking forward to reading your answers!

  1. I think blogging is the way people stay informed – versus paper magazines and encyclopedias, etc. I know I will continue to read blogs for years to come. Blogs (as well as books) are a great source of inspiration and encouragement to me.

  2. Though i do not believe blogging to be dead….i do believe the “home business blog” survival rate is at an all time low. The fact is that it has become a very saturated field. Due to the saturation, i think the ability to make money in blogging is not as simple or “easy” as it once was. Therefore i believe it to be a field were the cream will rise to the top – meaning, you have to work hard and know what you are doing AND be VERY good at it to make money.

i personally read blogs and personally blog for the love of writing and as an outlet, nothing more or less. Blogging for the joy of family and fun to be alive and kicking!!
