WV Living
featured in WV Living

Earlier this year, WV Living contacted us about possibly doing a story on our home and family. Lindsey Roberts, who contributes to the decorating channel here at Life Your Way, actually wrote the story, and Nikki Bowman, the editor-in-chief, and a photographer came out on Mother’s Day to do a photo shoot.

Even knowing that it was coming, there’s something very surreal about opening a package containing a stack of magazines and then opening one of those magazines to find a five-page spread about your family. The story is about our home, our commitment to intentional and uncluttered living and Life Your Way. Lindsey and the photographer both did an amazing job, and it was a really fun experience!

I’m not sure if they’ll be putting this issue online, but many of the national book stores carry WV Living in locations around the country if you want a closer look!

In other news, Tsh from Simple Mom recently announced her newest venture, The Simple Mom podcast, which is part of the amazing Home Fries network. I had the privilege of being her guest on her second show, and we had way too much fun as we talked about everything from yard sales to working at home and the question that every homeschooler should be ready to answer…but I wasn’t. Download it, add it to iTunes or listen to it on the web here!

Here are some of my favorite posts from this week. As always, check out what I’m reading to see the other posts that make me stop and think. You’ll find new posts all week long!

Motherhood {Compassion International}

This week, some of my favorite bloggers and friends were in the Philippines with Compassion International. My heart lived in my throat as I read about their experiences, and I especially appreciated the look at Compassion’s financial integrity from a fellow cynic.

About halfway through the week, we made the decision to work with Compassion to sponsor a little girl in the Philippines — which I’m telling you not to pat myself on the back but so that you know how much this trip impacted me personally, even from behind my laptop — and then to sign up as child correspondents for another little girl.

Today I want to share some my favorite posts from this week with you. In the words of Kat, I “triple-dog dare” you to read them with an open heart:

  • So That Others May Simply Live | Simple Mom
  • Of Rubber Boots, Self Pity and Ladders | Keeper of the Home
  • Now that you know, what will you do?

Blogging {Life Online}

  • 13 More Tools for Testing the Performance of Your Blog | TentBlogger

Food {And Then…}

Have a wonderful weekend! And won’t you consider sponsoring a child through Compassion?

(And wow, this may be the wordiest Weekend Reading post ever!)
