Happy 7th Birthday

From InstagramHappy birthday to the sweetest, happiest, most loving 7 year old I know!

It’s birthday season in our family: two birthdays down, two more to go!

Our middle daughter turned 7 on Wednesday, celebrating with chocolate chip muffin cake for breakfast. She is our quirky child, boasting a wild imagination, a silly streak that makes us all giggle, a sweet, caring heart and surprisingly deep philosophical and spiritual thoughts. When Jackson was born last year, we were most surprised by her reaction to the new baby, and if they are in the same room, she is almost always 100% focused on him!

She’s the daughter that surprised us at the start of her kindergarten year, excitedly diving into school even though she hadn’t shown any interest in letters or numbers before then. This summer her reading really took off, and we call her our resident math whiz because it comes so naturally to her. She is the most likely to negotiate her payment for various chores, ask for additional jobs or convince her sisters to combine their allowance on a shared purchase.

In many ways she is the stereotypical “middle child”, not big enough to be one of the big girls and too big to be one of the littles, but she handles it with grace, humor and persistence, and I can’t imagine how boring life would be without her!

Here are some of my favorite posts from this week. As always, check out what I’m reading and what I’m pinning to see the other posts that make me stop and think (or, you know, drool…). You’ll find new posts all week long!
