Each year, almost 660,000 children are born around with world with significant hearing loss. In fact, hearing loss affects 15% of the world’s population and nearly half of these cases are preventable, yet it is rarely talked about. The foundation trains local specialists and donates financial resources, hearing solutions, and audiological equipment to provide hearing care. Screening is provided to needy children and adults. Hearing aids are provided as well as speech therapy. They participate in self-help groups and training for parents with children that have hearing issues. They have even helped children receive cochlear implants.
One way they raise money is with an annual calendar featuring celebrities in the Hear the World pose, which has become synonymous with conscious hearing.
