The following post is from Myra of My Blessed Life:
I love to create handmade holiday decor on a dime as well as handmade gifts for family and friends.
These DIY Christmas Votives are festive and super easy to make. They are thoughtful, yet inexpensive token-gifts for people that you want to remember. Of course, you can also make them to decorate your own home. Customize the colors and design to fit your Christmas decor color scheme and style.
Supplies:
- votive candle holders {I buy mine at the thrift store or dollar store.}
- spray paint
- painter’s tape
- twine or rubber bands {Be sure to not use fibrous twine or yarn because the fibers will stick.}
Directions:
Carefully tape the top of each votive holder.
Spray paint the desired color and let dry completely.
Wrap each votive with twine or rubber bands in a pattern you like.
Spray paint again with an alternating color. Be sure to spray paint correctly with a few light coats of paint otherwise the paint will run behind the twine. Let the paint dry completely and then remove the twine and painter’s tape.
Add candles and enjoy an extra bit of handmade, holiday ambiance!
What colors do you use to decorate for Christmas? Are you more traditional or nontraditional?
