The following post is from Prerna of The Mom Writes: Three Neat Tricks to Tame Your Time Today
Time management {or the lack of it} is one of the biggest challenges that people face. Whether you work at home, out of it, or are a stay-at-home parent, chances are you want to have more control over your time.
You’re tired of running ragged by the end of the day and crave just a few minutes to simply sit and do nothing.
Well, I have help.
Three simple but powerful and very cool ways to tame your time today.
1. Do something.
It doesn’t matter if it is a big task or a small part of a big task, do it. Complete it. Knock it off. Act. Taming your time means making it work for you. If sleep is a priority for you, make sure you do it. If getting healthy is important for you, use your time to go for that walk. Know what you need your time for, and then use it. Wisely.
2. Make technology do the dirty work.
I am not a tech fan. Technology confuses me for the most part. But I also know how to make it do my dirty work, like remembering things, keeping focused, and cutting my clutter. That’s right. I hand over all of this to technology. For instance, for cutting paper clutter, I rely on Shoeboxed. To make sure I never miss a meeting, I use Google Calendar. They are simple enough and smart enough.
3. Identify the essential, and eliminate the rest.
This quote above is by Leo Babauta and my mantra for everything these days. I spent some time identifying my essential tasks and my MITs, and then eliminated or delegated the rest. Whether it was doing away with trying to design my eBook covers and losing my sanity in the process or spending an hour every day sweeping and mopping my home. I eliminated the tasks that didn’t add value to my life as a mom, entrepreneur, wife, and woman and replaced them with tasks that enriched those areas instead.
