Every Day:

As much as we may not like it, certain cleaning tasks need to be done every day. Most of these are in the kitchen, as this is the area that harbors the most bacteria.

Things such as wiping down counters, sanitizing sinks, and cleaning dirty dishes should be done regularly or after the kitchen has been used to prepare a meal. You might also consider making your bed every morning and giving your floors a quick sweep. Without proper cleaning, pests such as mice, ants, and cockroaches can be attracted.

Every Week:

Weekly tasks are understandably a bit more extensive, but they won’t take much time out of your day when kept on top of. You may even consider spreading the tasks out over the week to make things easier.

From mopping, dusting, vacuuming and wiping down kitchen appliances, you want to make sure that every surface is sanitized appropriately. Don’t forget to change your sheets too! This is the one thing that most people overlook.

Every Month:

When it comes to monthly cleaning tasks, they often refer to the commonly overlooked cleaning spots in your home. Think about things like dusting light fixtures, vacuuming vents, and cleaning your dishwasher. If they get missed, it’s not too much of a big deal, but it can make life easier and save you from having to do a huge cleanout.

Half Yearly:

Every six months, it’s time to take care of all of the tedious tasks. From power washing your patio, wiping down your fridge, washing pillows, and cleaning underneath all of your furniture, it can be challenging. However, once done, you don’t need to worry about them, and you’ll also be able to identify hazards (such as mold) that you may not have noticed before. You might also take this opportunity to wash your car if you haven’t done so already!

Yearly:

Once the new year rolls around, it’s time to finally do a big clean, from the gutters in your garden to your fireplace and windows. You want to get all the areas that require some vigorous work. It would be best if you also took this opportunity to deep clean your carpet and upholstery. If you don’t have the equipment to do it yourself, a company like Woodard Cleaning & Restoration is a great choice.

And that’s it! These were some tips on how often you should clean your home. What do you think? Is there any other advice that you would recommend?
