Spring inspires me. Doesn’t it inspire you?  The new life, bright colors, and fresh breezes are like medicine to my soul after the dreariness of winter.

And since I can’t spend every single minute outside, I created a few simple ways to bring Spring inside which I shared with you last month.

Today I’m spotlighting “Bringing Spring into the Kitchen” because it’s a busy hub of action that sometimes gets overlooked when we decorate seasonally!

Since I’ve been working to feed my family more healthfully, I’ve been spending even more time in the kitchen.  Kitchens should be happy, cheerful places, so here are my 5 Simple Ways To Bring Spring Into Your Kitchen:

1.  Fresh Flowers

There’s nothing more livening than a beautiful flowering plant or a vase full of fresh cut flowers on your kitchen table.  This time of year there are so many colorful varieties to choose from and you can find plants and flowers easily and at great prices too!

2.  Colorful Linens

Whether you typically use linens or not, Spring is a great time to pull them out of storage. Tablecloths, table runners, place mats and cloth napkins are wonderful accessories to bring color into your kitchen and dining area.  I like to look for linens at thrift stores, yard sales and on clearance at Target!

3.  Fresh Fruits & Vegetables

If fresh flowers aren’t your thing or if you struggle with having a brown-ish thumb like me, then fresh produce is another simple way to bring color and life into your kitchen.  I often fill a large bowl with citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruits, lemons and limes. Also, grapes, apples and even red and yellow onions are fabulous when stored in footed bowls or vases.

4.  Grow Herbs

Herbs are easy to grow and difficult to kill —  if you can remember to water them. Ahem. If you have a wide kitchen windowsill then it’s the perfect place for a few cute little pots of oregano, basil, cilantro and thyme to name just a few possibilities.

5.  Dishes & Serving Pieces

I love the classic beauty of crisp white plates, cup, bowls, mugs and platters. However, it’s fun to add other bright and colorful pieces to mix it up.  A frugal way to brighten your dinnerware is to bring in splashes of color in salad plates, mugs and serving pieces. Don’t be afraid to mix and match! My favorite places to shop for accent dinnerware pieces are TJ Maxx and resale shops.

I’ve given you five simple ways to decorate your kitchen for Spring, so now it’s your turn to get busy and decorate!

What is your favorite Spring accessory in your kitchen?
