{30} Things I'm Thankful For

things I'm thankful for

Today is my 30th birthday, and I couldn’t be more excited! Truly! As I was brainstorming ways to celebrate here on the blog, I couldn’t help but think that 30 lists of {30} items would be just about perfect for my type-A, list-making self. Over the past month I’ve been sharing the things I’ve learned in the past 30 years and my hopes for the future! See all 30 Days of {30} posts here.

Today’s post doesn’t have any grand lesson or takeaway. Instead, it’s just an opportunity for me to publicly celebrate a few of the many gifts in my life. Like the photos post, it’s a gratuitous peek inside our family and life…nothing more.

30-days-of-30
Here, then, are 30 things I’m thankful for today as I celebrate my birthday:

1. Grace, for I’d be nothing without it.

2. My God, who loves and accepts me the way I am.

3. An amazing husband, who’s been my best friend for 13 years!

4. The adventures and trials we’ve been through during that time, which have helped us grow up together and strengthened our relationship.

5. The way he supports all of my crazy ideas — providing a sounding board and his honest opinion and always standing behind me to hold me up and provide a cushion when I fall.

6. Our oldest daughter, who is a perpetual fountain of random factoids and joy.

7. Our second daughter, who is becoming increasingly spunky but still has an incredibly sweet, sensitive heart.

8. Our third daughter and her enthusiasm for life and all it offers.

9. Our baby girl, who is still coming into her own but makes us all laugh on a regular basis and is always willing to cuddle!

10. My family’s patience as I learn to cook, even when I ruin a meal we were looking forward to.

11. The forgiveness that my girls so freely give when I ask (and even when I don’t).

12. The privilege of homeschooling my girls without fight or threat of legal action.

13. The opportunity to work from home doing something I truly love.

14. The blessing of having our whole family home together on a daily basis.

15. Seeing my girls grow up right before my eyes. (I thought I’d be heartbroken when they left the toddler stage, but I’m discovering that each stage is better than the last!)

16. My mom, who loves me despite my own quirkiness and has become a valuable business partner.

17. My step-dad, who loved and accepted me as his own.

18. My dad, who loves me unconditionally and always tells me how proud he is of me.

19. My baby sister, one of my very favorite people in the whole world and one of my very best friends!

20. Being able to enjoy a relationship with my grandparents into adulthood and to see my own children’s relationships and memories of them blossom.

21. My mother-in-law and her brothers and sisters, who provide a daily example of the type of relationship we want our girls to have in adulthood.

22. Internet friends who have become some of my closest friends.

23. The women in my life who have become not just friends but mentors.

24. Our homeschool community, who feel like extended family.

25. Our home, which reflects my husband’s style, hard work and creativity.

26. Our little slice of heaven in West Virginia, where we marvel at the beauty of creation on a daily basis.

27. The inspiration that I find daily on the internet to live a more intentional, creative and thoughtful life.

28. The incredible opportunities my job gives our family — to travel, to meet interesting people, to see and try things we wouldn’t get to otherwise.

29. Chocolate. And coffee.

30. Life Your Way readers and the encouragement, discussions and conversations you all offer as part of the community!

Thanks for playing along during the 30 days of {30}!
