Last week I was searching through our homeschool group’s free pile when I discovered a jackpot of little girls’ clothing, including three sparkling white shirts that looked like they’d never been worn.
I was seriously in awe of these shirts, since I tend to skip treating stains and nothing stays gleaming white in our house for very long.
The next day I set to work switching over our seasonal wardrobes, and I was embarrassed as I added shirt after shirt after dress to the “would be cute if it wasn’t dingy and stained” pile.
Among the pile were some of my very favorites, and I hated to just toss them!
Seventh Generation Natural Oxy Stain Remover
Thankfully, I had just received some Seventh Generation Natural Oxy Stain Remover, and I figured this was the perfect chance to try it out!
This powerful Chlorine-free oxygen bleach fights stains in the laundry room and beyond by boosting detergent effectiveness and using the power of oxygen bleach to brighten and whiten. It’s made with pure mineral and mineral-based ingredients, is biodegradable and is free of VOCs, optical brighteners, dyes and synthetic fragrances.
But the real question is…could it do the job?
I mixed two scoops with a gallon of water in a bin and layered the shirts and dresses at the bottom to soak.
Five hours later, I moved the clothes to the washer and washed as normal. I then stuck them in the dryer and held my breath.
And you know what? All but one of them is pretty close to gleaming white! There is still a marker stain or two on a couple of the shirts, but the dingy brown? Gone. And I’m pretty sure the still-dingy shirt was actually rolled in the mud; it was that dirty.
