How to Stay Productive When Business Starts to Grow

be more productive when busy

I’ve been blessed to have not one but two businesses to work on and even, more blessed that both the businesses are growing. Fast.

Naturally, that means, more work, more time, more effort.

Growing businesses are great, but they can really impact your productivity especially when you feel like you’re being pulled in a million different directions.

Here is how to retain and even, boost productivity when your business or job responsibilities start to grow:

Delegate or Outsource

Yes, this definitely has to be top on the list. Whether you delegate or outsource household chores or business tasks, you should consider getting help. The fact that business is growing means you’ll have a bit more money so why not put it back into the business by getting help for activities that drain you out.

For instance, I used to struggle for hours {literally, hours!} trying to set up a sign up form in Mailchimp or design a cover for my eBooks.  It was a sheer waste of my time. Time that could be spent working on my business and growing it further. So, I hired a graphic designer and paid for my eBook covers. Painless and best investment ever!

Set Up Systems or Re-Evaluate Them

Do you have a smooth and seamless system for customer service queries? What about product launches? Or do you need to set up processes that cut down on time and improve user experience? Spending a hour on setting up a process now will save you many hours in the long run.

Identify and Give up Time Sinks

Finally, identify what are your time sinks, either at home or in your business? And then, give those up. Whether it is checking emails every 15 minutes or watching re-runs, boosting your productivity will mean being ruthless with these time sinks and cutting them out completely.

A growing business or increased responsibilities at work doesn’t mean you get stressed out and burnt out. It means you get smart about how you spend your time and efforts. Focus on tasks that energize you and inspire your work and try to do away with tasks that take way too much time or effort to justify being done by you.

How do YOU retain your productivity when responsibilities grow?
