Growing up my mom always made special breakfasts on weekends and holidays. Saturday was usually eggs and hash browns, and Sunday was pancake day.
Holidays were always something even more special and time consuming to make.
These special breakfasts are some of the meals that I remember most. They were the days where we slowed down and took the time to eat a special breakfast together.
Our weekends and holidays are often filled with busy schedules, but there is something special about slowing down and starting your day with a special family breakfast.
These breakfasts do not have to be fancy meals though. One of my favorite things to do is to take a simple pancake or waffle breakfast and make it special by changing up what we serve on them.
One of our new favorite pancake toppings is this Orange Maple Syrup.
It is a quick and easy recipe to make and it turns an ordinary pancake or waffle into a special treat.
- ½ cup orange juice
- 1 cup real maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon honey
- Heat all ingredients in a small saucepan over medium low heat until heated through. This will take about 4-5 minutes. Be careful that you do not boil the ingredients. Serve over pancakes or waffles. Refrigerate any leftovers.
