I always thought that the student/teacher editions of software were somehow inferior to the real thing.
And then I discovered the secret: they’re the exact same with a lower price as a courtesy to students and teachers. That means that teachers, students and, yes, homeschoolers can pick up software at a ridiculously low price with proof of status.
Sometimes you can pick these up at Amazon.com; other times it pays to go through a site like Academic Superstore, and of course check the company site as well to make sure you’re getting the best price.
For example:
- Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended
regular edition: $999
student/teacher edition: $169.99
- Microsoft Office Professional 2010
regular edition: $499.99
student/teacher edition: $79.95
You’ll need to fax or email proof of your eligibility before you’ll receive a license to unlock your software, so be sure you’re eligible before you make your purchase.
Have you purchased student/teacher editions of software?
