Little ring bearer and junior bridesmaids

From Instagram: My sweet little man’s attempt to walk down the sand aisle! {We’d rehearsed inside because of the threat of rain and forgot to think about that part…oops!}

We spent this week in the Outer Banks for our annual family vacation, which just so happened to coincide with my sister-in-law’s wedding! The big girls got to be junior bridesmaids (just like our sisters were in our wedding almost 13 years ago!), while the little ones were flower girls and Jackson was the cute-but-ineffective ring-bearer.

After watching the weather reports obsessively for days, we were able to hold the small wedding outside on the beach like Katie & John had hoped. It was windy and a bit chilly but really beautiful overall.

The best part was the Katie hired Shaina as her wedding photographer, so we got 4 days with her and her girls. We all had so much fun doing the “beach” thing, and I threatened multiple times to keep one or both of her girls as part of our family because they’re just so great.

What I’m reading: Scrum: The Art of Doing Twice the Work in Half the Time by Jeff Sutherland (slowly but surely…) and Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson

What I cookedNothing! But Shaina made this french toast bake for breakfast her last morning here, and it was delicious!
