January is here and you’re looking at a clean slate, a fresh start, a blank calendar. Now is the time to make sure you set yourself up for work-at-home success. It isn’t tough or complicated. It isn’t hard to do. It does however, require commitment and focus. Ready?
Here’s how to set yourself up for work-at-home success right from the start:
Kickstart productivity for yourself.
Don’t let the start of the year be the time when you’re dragging your butt and not kicking ass. Make productivity a priority and get productive now. Simple things like, using the time before breakfast to get things done or turning routines into rituals can help you set the pace for the year ahead and start developing good time management habits right now.
Make time for learning.
It is easy to get comfortable where you are and just do what you know. However, the real challenge is in moving forward, learning and growing. Work-at-home success is not about just working from home and making a living. It is all about evolving as an entrepreneur or freelancer and you can do that only when you make time for learning. So, sit down with your planner or calendar and factor in time every day for at least 20 minutes of dedicated learning. Better still, make a list of 10 things you want to learn in 2013 and then, schedule the learning for them right now.
Start to smarten up your strategies.
For business and work to grow, you need to get smart about being productive and profitable. From choosing ways to build your business on a budget to outsourcing your stress points, look at how you can include these in your work-at-home plans for the year.
Set realistic goals and track them.
Finally, set goals that are realistic and set up a way of measuring your progress on them. Whether it is landing a certain number of clients every month or it is growing the number of subscribers on your blog, set your goals, create an action plan to achieve them and track them diligently.
What would YOU be doing first to set yourself up for success in 2013?
